Default Mother/Daughter in Charlotte?

My husband and I are looking to build a new home in Charlotte but unfortunately, my mom has to come with us. We are thinking about building a side apartment for her. We've looked at a lot of new communities but most builders won't deviate from their plans. Can anyone suggest a builder who would be willing to custom build a side apartment w/ a second kitchen and a private entrance? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

How about a home that has an apartment area already above the garage. Just needs to be finished.

It really depends on the builder. The one my neighbor just put on the market has like a bedroom/living room area with own full bathroom.

I should be upset since they did not let me list it

I was really more interested in a new construction so I could have the house built to suit my lifestyle. However, I am open to exploring other options since I know my situation is a little complicated. How old is this house with the apartment above the garage? What town is it located in?
