Default Custom builders in Charlotte area?

My husband and I are looking to build a new home in Charlotte but unfortunately, my mom has to come with us. We are thinking about building a side apartment for her. We've looked at a lot of new communities but most builders won't deviate from their plans. Can anyone suggest a builder who would be willing to custom build a side apartment w/ a second kitchen and a private entrance? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I like your name -- that would've been my name 8 years ago

There are many choices for custom builders here -- I can send you some info if you want. What areas/price range are you looking into?

Best of luck

Thanks for the response. We are definitely soooo done w/ NY!!.

We were thinking about the north Charlotte area...Concord, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, and their surroundings.

Looking to spend no more than 300K.

Thanks for your help.

That's a good question about the in-law/guest/parent apt. thing. I may have to take my mother also when I move because she'll be all alone and is elderly and I'll be too far away. Problem is we all know we can't all live under the same roof. I have too many pets and I'm too difficult for her taste. Like she isn't! :-)
So.....how difficult is it to get permits over there and to later build a separate but semi-attached self-contained unit?
