The wife and I are coming down in late June to spend a week in the mountains, and we will be renting a car from Enterprise. As the rates are roughly double at the airport, we're planning on taking a taxi to one of the two nearest locations in town. We're looking for advice regarding whether the Enterprise office at Brookhiser Road & I-485 or the office at South Blvd & Clanton Road would be a better choice - both are pretty much the same distance from the airport. Since we don't know Charlotte at all, personal safety is the first concern that comes to mind.

We get in at 4:45 PM, and from the rental office we'll be heading towards Gastonia and points west. How brutal is the rush hour on that side of town between 5 PM and 7 PM?

Any help most appreciated - thank you!

Default Enterprise

The Clanton/South Boulevard location is about 30$ cab fare from airport and to my experience would be the most convenient location. That intersection is all commercial and office around it. You can do Google street view to give a sense of the intersection. The traffic itself to the agency is not likely too bad as you will be going across town rather than in or out of town to that location. If the traffic you are referring to means leaving the rental location for your trip then traffic to the west is not too bad but heading North on I-77 can be stop and go until 7 p. m.
If possible ask the cab to wait for a moment to be sure the office has your car and reservation, then dismiss him.
Have a great time, drive safely.
