Please fill an outsider in on this redistricting? Union county is a potential relocation spot for us, with 2 school age kiddos.

Supernootz, look for ucps redistricting thread, probably has 10000 pages now... that will fill you in.

To OP- my neighbors listed their house as they had a rising senior, and a rising junior and did not want to separate their kids. So sad. They are uprooting their family, though they've lived there for years for this.
We have three years before we're affected but I am very aware of the fact we may have to move before my daughter hits middle school

We have no children and are happily moving INTO Union County in a couple weeks. Sad that this is affecting so many people though.

It may have actually been a rising freshman, and a rising senior. Sorry.

Have been looking at a property there. I thought the redistricting was set?

I imagine property taxes will be skyrocketing at some point too?

As a good childhood friend of mine, who recently put an offer in on a home smack dab in the middle of this affair puts it, "Where else in Charlotte could I buy a home this nice in my price range. And regardless of what school my kids get assigned, Union County schools are still better than anything we had back home."

It put the whole 10 vs. 5/6 on Great Schools into perspective for me.

We are but we are still staying in Union County. Just moving to an area that will keep our kids in their current schools.

This is what I think MOST parents will do. Because stability and routine is good for kids, and that's all parents want for their children; good.
