I have never been camping here in NC & have always wanted to. I would like to know which campgrounds is the best. I have heard that Cane Creek in Waxhaw is a good place. I've only fish & picnic there. I would prefer somewhere within 1 hour drive, activities, cleanliness, showers, not too strict so we can enjoy our camping & overall a nice scenery. Thanks in advance!

My family visited South Mountain recently and was very pleased. The bathhouse at the family camping sites just opened. I recommend booking sites 5 or 6. They both have direct access to the river, which is a perfect depth/speed for young children to splash around in. None of the sites are very far from the bathhouse. The hiking is good too.

Thank you for the responses. I have been to Dan Nicholas Park once for my niece's birthday party. It rained that day so I wasn't able to venture out but it seems like a nice park.

I think I have found the perfect campground! I have never heard of it before & saw a friend of mine who posted pictures of her recent trip there. Its called Jellystone Park in Marion. Family Camping in NC | North Carolina Campgrounds | Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Although its 2 hours from where I lived its still not a bad drive. Its privately owned & there's tons of activities for the kids. My friend said there's different activities every 2 hours. This place stays booked during the Summer so our camping trip will have to be next year. Besides that I love Yogi & Boo Boo Bear! I watched that show all the time as a kid.
