I think NC's newest entrepeneur needs to send you some samples and maybe you two can take Charlotte by storm!

Thank you! There is nothing better than Cuban food... it was a mainstay in my life for the 14 years I lived in South Florida. Good Luck! We are looking forward to it :-)

Sorry no Cuban restaurants on South Blvd. The only two that I know of in and around Charlotte are:

Taste of Havana
5534 Albemarle Road Suite 101
Charlotte, NC 28212
Phone: (704) 535-0223

Carlos Cafe
1998 Cherry Rd
Rock Hill, SC 29732
(803) 329-7171

Also as others have suggested do a search on Cuban food and you will see what people had/ have to say about each of these myself included

Havana Social Club

Not a restaurant but certainly entertaining and offers dance lessons and social events in the Lake Norman area. This place is packed quite often: http://www.havanasc.com/home

Hi there. I also relocated from Miami a little over a year ago. (first, I was in Miami Springs where I grew up and then moved to Davie before moving away altogether)
Good luck on the cuban food thing. There is a place called a Taste of Havana but it is run by nicaraguans and mexicans cook the food. It's "okay" and I stress the "okay" part. Now, there is a place in Rock Hill, South Carolina called "CARLOS CAFE" that is the closest to authentic I can find. They even sell cuban bread there! The only thing is they give it to you out of a refrigerator instead a soft, warm loaf like we're used to in South Florida. The Pan con Bistec (Steak Sandwich is GREAT!) and the Bistec Empanizado (Breaded Steak) is pretty good if you use lots of lime. It has a pretty authentic cafeteria feel to it also. It is not really that far from Charlotte. We live in North Charlotte and still go ther for dinner a couple of times a month. Truthfully, there is such an untapped market here in Charlotte in the food arena. A cuban rest/cigar shop would be AMAZING!

Anywhere off of Central Ave should be a good bet. Also check out the NoDa area. It's pretty diverse for restraunts and art although I don't think they have a Cuban Restraunt there yet. HMMM??

Central Ave area will give you Dominican, El Salvadorian, Honduran and Mexican.
Charlotte has a ways to go in the Spanish food department such as Cuban, Puerto Rican etc.

Default Still looking for home cooking

The closest Cuban food I have found is Havana restaurant and that is just OK. Some places claim to have the real thing but I have yet to find one that delivers on that promise. Like many others I am from Miami and just want REAL CUBAN BREAD!!!
