Those photos are from a area close to NODA and very slow process this area is being genderfied. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Harril...i=map&ct=image The area itself is not a large area and has alot of potential. Plaza Midwood has alot of those craftman style homes and was once looking like the above photos but genderfication has made those homes very pricey today. I can see alot of potential in those homes and buildings in those photos.

Those boarded up bungalows are probably owned by investors awaiting further increase in property values before they do the big flip.

Those pics do not depict CLT.

What is NODA? I just want to make sure that Charlotte is truly a nice place. People always like to hear the good about a place, but once you get there, you can sometimes be suprised at how much bad there is. I like to find out both sides of a city before I truly make a commitment. Thanks,

Charlotte overall is good. Exponential growth is causing some problems like traffic and overcrowded schools, but it also benefitting the area. The advantages FAR outweigh the disadvantages here. Most ppl in Charlotte are from up north or somewhere else and the overwhleming majority like it here. It's pretty affordable if you can get a decent job.

NODA is the artsy area I mentioned at 36th and North Davidson. Once looked like those photos, but now has some cool things there. http://www.noda.org/

Great. Thank you all for the info. I appreciate it. So how fast is the city growing? It is growing by leaps and bounds here in Tucson. It doesn't bother me much but it sure makes affordability less so.

NODA is North Davidson Arts District http://www.noda.org/

Charlotte does have areas that need some love and you will find structures like above on all sides of the city, around Central Ave and Eastway, some of the back neighborhoods off Independence, around Tuckaseegee and Berryhill Rd. Or down Tryon near Clayton Road.

Best advice is not explore these areas at night. These areas do exist and they exist on all sides of the city but after you are familiar with these areas you learn how to get around them or avoid them.
Unless you are like my partner who loves driving the curves of Parkwood Ave but it goes right thru the sketchy area.

Those photos was not that bad that you posted except for the 2nd from last one I thought the landscape and homes look pretty good they just have boards on the windows but homes look in good shape.

I guess I can come and check out Charlotte. I found a good flight. Anyone know about the Ascott Inn? It's gotten mixed reviews. It's located @ 1025 S. Tryon. Charlotte. It's got affordable rates. 59.00 +Tax

OMG do NOT stay at the ASScott Inn! It has heart shaped jacuzzi tubs and it rents by the hour. I'm not joking.
