Your age may be something that you should call ahead about. The Microtel on Sugar Creek is not in the best location, but it's still a better place (by far) than the Ascot.

Don't just show up and drop the bomb on them. I know Microtel was pretty lenient about age a few years ago, but that may have changed.

There is a Homeweood Suites on North Tryon in the University area (maybe 10 minutes ride to uptown). There is at least one extended stay place in that area, too.

Is this thread supposed to be a joke?
"Hur hur, is all of Charlotte shacks?"
"Dur dur, should I stay at a hotel that advertises free porn and mirrored showers?"

I mean, really.

See, this is why I am wondering about the validity of this thread. I don't know anywhere that won't rent an 18 year old with a valid credit card a room. I've been doing this since college as I have always traveled a lot.

I dunno; I looked at some of the other threads he started and I think he is just being budget conscious and at his age, just may be slightly naive (please don't take that the wrong way OP). I don't think he is trying to intentionally stir anything up.

With a credit card, it shouldn't even be an issue except for the price. I've stayed at several places when I was under 18 with a decent cash deposit. Just call ahead to be sure.

Daniel,

Let us know what city you decide to go to school/relo in. Will it be Phoenix, Houston, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, Charleston, Wilmington, Detroit, Miami, LA, Charlotte, or London? And let us know if they are all trashy like Tucson.

no. Most people live in crap apartment buildings or old run down houses. there are few adobe houses and most that are around and not in the best of condition.

Now there is no need to be sarcastic. I am just checking. There is nothin wrong with that. And yes, there are age restrictions on hotels. I went to check into a Super 8 in Dallas and was told I could not stay there because I was under 21. I called the company to ask why that was and was told lower end motels do that because most people under 21 rent for a night and junk up the room.

If anyone else has any rude or sarcastic comments, leave them to yourself. I really don't care what you have to say about me. I am trying to figure out where I want to go. Sorry it's TOO MUCH for some people.

I would just find a spot behind a building somewhere an lay down card board boxes to sleep on. You will get plenty of fresh air. Be careful if you are near a pub as someone may need to urinate where you are laying. Nevertheless, The ground doesn't check identification cards. Good luck and happy lodging.
