Don't ask me. Ask your elected officials. If you don't like their answer ask the candidates for their jobs.

I've known, since I was in my 20s, that rateables are the answer to keeping taxes down. I learned it from my parents & grandparents. It's not a new-fangled concept.

I get that ratables is the easiest way, but if you do not attract those, you can't just throw up your hands and say "well we tried"….you have to raise the money some other way….the easiest way to do that is a tax increase, like UC is seeing now, and most likely another one in 2-3 yrs

Thanks Mikey. It seems that someone is full of questions to pin blame if the answer is not what is desired. It seems pretty simple to me. Corner the parties who are responsible. What's the BOE supposed to do with a never-ending stream of kids & no money to build new schools. Ya can't hang the kids from the rafters like a bunch of bats. Sorry, won't fly. (Pun intended)

yea….move 5800 kids for an issue of 300….BOE must be using that Common Core math….but wait, lets keep shouting "ratables"….Do you see a power plant moving into UC anytime soon?

Yeah, that's the easy way out & then you start pricing people out. I know how that goes all too well. Maybe you can afford a never-ending stream of tax increases but plenty of people can't. City officials in my city have been working very hard for years to attract new businesses because most of the mills are gone. I've spent most of my life living in post-mill economies. It's rough.

Union County should have been looking for rateables for years. Don't want to look at them? That's what industrial parks are for.

Not my problem. I don't vote in Union County. You do. It's your problem & your responsibility to fix the problem with your vote. I told you where the real problem is. Going after people who don't agree with your view doesn't fix a blasted thing.

Are you going to get a power plant soon? Not likely, at least not one this big. This one will be large enough to power 400K homes. But you really aren't going to get rateables if you don't tell the elected officials that you want them.

But if they are not coming, and officials don't attract business, how do you raise the $$$$? Are you proposing planting the magic money tree? maybe get those seeds from the same guy who gave Jack his beanstalk beans? There may be a lot of things UC should have been doing, but they didn't….there have been plenty of places around the US that people have gotten priced out of, this isn't some new problem generic to UC that hasn't been seen before in other places in the US

I got priced out of where I spent most of my life because of jerks with money coming in & driving up real estate . If you have no compassion for Union County natives getting priced out then shame on you.

Does anyone else think it is odd that the SVHS PTSO is begging for input from parents at the (united) board on FB but yet they only hear crickets? Many people were quick to slam them and say they have no input or get feedback, the PTSO make a move and the lady is begging for feedback, she says she has received absolutely none.
