Beyond ridiculous. First, not sure why you are accusing Mrs. Savage of anything. Are you blaming her because Marton is her challenger or is it part of your constant need to echo smears against her because she went against the majority and stood for the children? Second, why are so defensive of Marton? I have yet to see him do anything worthwhile. All he has is webpage and a scrubbed Facebook. Third, campaigning at an open house is just ridiculous and should not be done for any reason. Especially when he doesn't have children in that school.
Which "wrongs of the previous boards" are you referring to? Looting Parkwood to open Cuthbertson too soon? Choosing a poor location for Cuthberston? Or something else?
I've thought about those things for a while now, colossal screw-ups that will lead to redistricting into and out of that school/cluster again and again (i.e., our clusterfoxtrot). It would feel nice to be able to pick the culprits from the lineup and make them take the blame- I think it's a little more complicated.
The school system doubled in size in a decade, and the county was growing by 4000 households/yr in that fertile crescent of Marvin / Waxhaw / Wesley Chapel. Even with the best demographic forecasts and analyses, I doubt that any school board / planning office / superintendent could efficiently accommodate the growth in this county while the zoning process remains so wide open. Doesn't matter how many MPA's are on staff. With the right political connections, our Ag-zoned land can instantly convert to huge tracts of high-density single-family developments overnight. Because this is such a great place to live, those developments fill instantly and instantly demand space in schools. Our school system is always ahead of the growth curve, or behind the growth curve - and it's getting very expensive to operate this way. Redistricting is only one of the symptoms, our escalating debt is perhaps worse.
Even if the board hired the A-Team and found the world's smartest administrator to plan school growth, that administrator be back in half an hour to ask the most important questions: "Which regions are currently zoned for which type of development and how likely is that to change?" Until we can answer those questions, we're doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
Certainly Ellis and her deputies don't have those answers, nor does the BoE. I don't know that the BoCC can answer either- they seem to have delegated zoning duties to appointed (unelected) bodies.
...6300 students will be impacted by redistricting.. As of August 5th, parents filed 113 appeals to keep their kids in their original schools....
So 1.79%. The real numbers, like the 57 buying T-shirts, indicate the load of falderal that has been put out for months, was mainly at the hands of just a few people. A few people, it seems, who only cared about property values.
This was not the huge hit to the county that it was made out to be. Most people, in fact an overwhelming number of people, have moved on because they are pleased with how things turned out and even excited about the new school year.
The results, this article, the courts, all speak for themselves.
So his opinion, if shared, via emails with officials is bogus, but CAPS email doing the same thing is legitimate?
Yeah...I don't get this one either. Seems that only aggrieved citizens can correspond with the BOE??? This Dist 6 race is a toughie but at least Marton is approachable. Unfortunately I never felt (personal opinion y'all) that way about Marce.
This just seems (to me) that someone doesn't like anyone else on "their" turf. Wonder who "turned him in" for being out there? Would the same happen to Marce if she showed up at CHS or WHS? I doubt it.

I think paths actually crossed. Should have debated right there.
2-25 doesn't say anything about talking parents does it?

It was the content of those emails that showed the mans character or lack their of.
I find all of you quite amusing and sad. I stated that he was removed from school property today (fact) and that I don't care for him. In response you have all gone into full attack mode on Mrs. Savage and her husband. Unsubstantiated claims about her behavior without any specifics to back it up. Even her late father and the Governor have been mentioned by several of you. One has to ask why? You have sat here in your little echo chamber hiding behind fake personas bashing anyone who disagrees with the BOE or redistricting. You have spent months mocking families whose children have removed from their schools unfairly. You support a governing body which violates it's own policies and has no regard for the public. I have watched you for months and figured I would poke the hornets nest for fun to see if I could get a response. You guys definitely deliver. Sad thing is, I can tell many of you truly take pleasure in all this, and if you are who many people who have been following these boards believe you to be, that's disturbing.
Anyone reading this debating a move to Union County, this group is not a true representation of our community. It is a great place to live and raise your family. Unfortunately we have some growing pains and an over zealous, self serving Board of Education and school administration.
