Moving to Indian Trail next year should I purchase a gas or electric cooktop - I heard that gas is expensive -is that true? Thanks

Gas is expensive but it really depends on what appliances you have that use gas. 8-9 months out of the year the only appliance in my home that is using gas is my water heater. My gas bill is typically about $35-45 a month for that time period. For the remainder when my gas furnace is on and producing heat the bill jumps to $200-250 a month. However, the electric goes down quite a bit because the air conditioner is no longer being used.

Most people that cook a lot prefer gas because it allows you to regulate the heat better. I know gas is more efficient but believe it takes a year or so for you to actually save any money.
