Hi - I would love to meet up with folks who trade regularly. I invest in stocks and have done some forex but do not day trade ( yet).
Did this group ever meet ? Is anyone here aware of an investment group/club in CLT ?
I live in the South Charlotte Area and would be willing to meet with a group once/twice a week and chat live during trading hours as we share info.
Cheers.

Now more then ever I think it’s a good time for people to become more in control of their finances. I feel sorry for people like my father who has his retirement savings invested in stocks based on the recommendations of his Merrill Lynch broker. He just sits there everyday and watches in horror as the Dow Jones Index continues to fall.

Day traders or short term traders can jump in and out of the market and capitalize on these crazy conditions. For example, last Friday when the Fed. announced its bailout plan, I bought a bunch of Dow futures contracts which of course went up once the market opened. I made about +12% return on my account in that one day alone. Waiting for very high probability trades such as that are the way to go. If you can catch 3 of them a year you are making 30% return on your money, 10 trades a year and 100% or more per year. I would argue that the rewards are worth the risk in short term trading. “Buy and hold” strategies are getting killed right now and people need to look for other options.

cltdalal - I sent you an email.

Is that a day trade or would you like to exercise your options and futures?

Sounds like he's in need of a reverse split, so he doesn't get delisted.

I think thats a very key question. I have yet to see someone prove that day trading can be profitable "long term". It seems to be more like gambling, sure you can make lots of money in the short term, but, the longer you stay at the casino the odds are get more and more against you.

Personally I lost money for about the first 2 years I was trading. I made lots of good money for the next 2-3 years, and am now currently losing money again (crazy markets). Overall I am up.

Even if you find that perfect "holly grail" trading system, markets change over time so what has worked well over the past few years may not work well in the future.
