Coyote joes is the only "Country Bar" although Whiskey River at epicenter claims to be one too vbut really is just an overpriced club. Charlotte lacks country bars

Coyote Joes seems to be developing more as a "music venue", trying to draw in acts that will support admission prices.

The east in general lacks the CW scene. There used to be several large CW dance places within a few hours of where I lived in the Central Valley of California a few decades ago. Some of them were huge, the locations had a former life as grocery stores. You have to get out to Texas or beyond to have much choice.

But then, country music goes through rises and falls in popularity too. In the early 90s there would be a line out the door of young people just to get into the main club that was in Clovis at the time. It advertised live music 7 nights a week (OK, Monday and Tuesday were light but they did have a band) and there were free dance lessons 2 or 3 nights a week.

A lot of the rodeos out west will also hold a dance, I have not observed that much here. Rodeos seem to be mainly an event for spectators in NC.

Shelby draws in a lot of country acts at the Don Gibson theater.

I'm surprised at the frequency of rodeos here. There's a weekly rodeo in South Jersey from late spring into fall.
