Smile Went for the third time. came. saw and Purchased.

After 6 Months Finally found a house I like in Mint Hill. After reading everyone posts who have moved it gave me the confidence to go ahead. I have to wait seven months for the house to be bulit to it gives me time to get everything ready and prepare mentally.

I would be glad to answer any questions to new people on the board because I know how they feel. I was there once to.

Oh yes. What about Mint Hill? I read on the online newspaper the other day that Carolina Health Care (?) will be building a hospital/offices in that area and, since I'd be looking for healthcare related employment, I started thinking about checking Mint Hill. But isn't that in Meck Cty? And doesn't everybody say those taxes are SOOOOOO high?
?????????

Taxes in the Charlotte city limits are the highest in the metro region - but that doesn't mean they are equivilent to being the highest in the country. It's all relative. People coming from other areas of the country can't believe the much lower taxes they find here. Mint Hill is in Mecklenburg county, but it is an incorporated city with its own mayor, town council and police force. It is a good place to live as they have regulated their growth much better than Charlotte and don't allow too much density.

I saw your other post to me. I am glad you liked St. john's forest. We decided so quick so I can't wait to go back and really look at it. We were in a rush! What made you deicde not to buy there and instead Mint Hill? Did you still go with a KB home?

I looked in union county. I was very set on their. But I found a very nice lot in mint hill that backs up to woods and on the other side of the woods is another community. So when it came down to it was I was getting more privacy and about 1/3 of an acre for new construction. and unless you are spending about 400k its hard to find a nice house with a lot of land. Also mint hill is closer to up town. Mint Hill also doesn't let houses be bulit on .17 of an acre also.

In union county taxes are .70 per 100$. Mint Hill is 1.09 Per 100$.

It is more expensive but not as much as other areas. Also I couldn't build the size house I wanted in Union county for the price I paid. So You have to take it as it comes.

One thing about St. Johns Forest. The land across the street from the enterance I heard has been sold. So It could be housing or a strip mall. But this is not the reason I didn't buy there. The reason is that they didnt have a good lot I wanted and they wouldn't release the one I wanted to buy. I did go with KB in Mint Hill. They give you better standard features then ST. Johns and it works out to be the same price. Also this other community had a better lot that i liked so I went with that one. If not I probably would have went back to St. Johns. People will tell you KB sucks but they do bulit a house just as good as the next builder so don't let anyway change your mind.
