What are your thoughts on the MLS potentially calling Charlotte home in the future?

I'm on the fence - if the MLS put a better product on the pitch I'd probably be more excited about it.

Personally I would be for it and I think they would get reasonable attendance.

They certainly would in the first few years, but once the novelty wore off I think attendance would depend largely on how successful they are on the pitch....everyone likes a winner, etc

The minor league Charlotte Independence will be officially announced tonight.

Rather have an MLS team than an MLB team.

Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball are coming to the Carolinas in the future. I think the MLS is likely to expand into the Carolinas first.

If MLS ever decided to come this way, I'd think Raleigh/Durham might make a pitch too, and probably would be more likely to land a team given they only have one pro team now. I really just don't see Charlotte with three pro sports teams in our lifetime.

I think it will work, I don't see Raleigh getting a soccer team, or any other team soon. Raleigh is in the lower half of the NHL in attendance and I've heard rumors of the Hurricanes possibly relocating. I can see Raleigh with MLB in the distant future. Charlotte also has a growing Hispanic population of 125,000+ people.

Only 250 people showed up for the announcement. Not much of a start.

The Triangle might only have one pro team, but we also have to remember that they have three top tier collegiate sport teams (UNC, NC State, and Duke). Having MLS and/or MLB works well in Charlotte's favor.
