Hi, we're visiting in May and the 2 areas I want to compare are those above. I've done a lot of research on LN, but just recently started reading about Waxhaw. Schools are important and from what I can tell, both school districts seem to excel. I like different things about each school. As for the areas, LN seems to be, from what I read on here, getting more and more congested. But, it also appears to have a lot more to do than Waxhaw. I'd like to hear pros and cons from someone who is familiar with both areas so I can get a comarison. Thanks for any input you can give.

Lake Norman is a large lake that consists of least 3 or 4 school districts which one did you read about that sparked your interest so that we can assist you better?

You're from California?
Check out Waxhaw, Weddington, Marvin.
Marvin and Weddington school clusters are the best (IMO).

It's just a personal choice. Being from California, you may prefer Lake Norman, because of the lake. The lake does provide more entertainment. Both areas are congested.

Those schools are in Mooresville and not Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Good schools though in either location!

Mooresville is very nice but very congested. If you plan on working in Charlotte you are gonna have quite a commute in traffic from either location. I realize you are coming from CA but traffic is traffic no matter how you slice the pie!

Good Luck!

If I was to make the call just over Lakes I would take Lake Norman any day, as previoulsy stated traffic is a bit rough from Mooresville though.

Traffic is not as bad as everybody makes it out to be - especially if you're coming from CA. Trust me, I speak from experience.

From Lake Norman?

When was the last time you were on I-77 Southbound around 7am in the morning coming from Mooresville?

You need to allow 1hr from Waxhaw or Mooresville to get Uptown (if that is where you work). It may only take 45 min but that does not allow for any problems.

And I use to live in NY. Traffic is traffic.

A friend of mine bought a house in Mooresville and she and her family moved from Pasadena, CA cause their realtor told then they could get from Mooresville (exit 36) to Uptown in 20-25 minutes. You can't even do that at 3am in the morning unless you were doing 80 or more.

Anything past exit 25 in the morning can be horrible.
