Never had an issue with it going out except last year when we had a hurricane-like storm roll through.
Yes, you may be able to get more sports channels with direct tv, but Dish does have the NFL ticket. Dish also has better quality in my opinion and seem to spend their money on improving the technology instead of giving people free sports packages like direct tv. Dish has more satellites in the air too and the picture is phenomenal on my HD big screen.

Just to clarify, DirecTV is the only service with NFL Sunday Ticket... Dish Network only carries the NFL Network, which only shows Thursday night games.
Based on overall service, Dish Network and DirecTV both surpass, in my opinion, Time Warner (not to mention Time Warner is generally more expensive).
Depends on what you want to do about internet and phone.
If you like fast internet and have a land phone line (not cell phone), then I think TW is the best bet if you get their bundled service. Its cheap and you get internet that is a lot faster then any other option out there.
Granted, TW sucks like all cable monopolies, but, its the best option in my opinion.
Thanks for all your help...DH went with Direct TV, mainly due to the sports, he(and all his upstate NY friends/family that he plans to have to our house) has to have access to the Bill's and this seems to be the only option.
