Question Cherryville/Gaston Co taxes? NC property tax?

Just looking for feedback and info..
Just made an offer on property in Cherryville..but it is outside the city limits in Gaston COunty they tell me...but in a extende zone( ? ) for Cherryville.
What is the difference in taxes?..better to be in the city or outside??? what would taxes be roughly on a 2500 Sq Ft home??
Also..I have been reading other threads about a property tax on vehicles??
Can someone explain this one?..is it a yearly tax?..How much is it if you own 2 vehicles?
We will be coming from NJ in a couple of years..thought we had the market cornered on high auto insurance and high property taxes here in NJ..but we never heard of a personal property tax??
Any clarifications would be appreciated...Thanks..
Also..avg cost on auto insurance in NC?

I believe the current local property tax rate for Gaston county is 0.8400 per $100 of value. Residents living within the corporate limits of Cherryville pay an additional rate of 0.4400 for city services.

Motor vehicles are considered as property in NC and subject to the same annual local taxation rates as noted above.

Congratulations on your new home. I moved from NJ two years ago and have never regretted it. The taxes on your home will be much lower than anything you paid in NJ by far! The tax on vehicles is a yearly tax and doesn't really amount to too much unless you're the owner of a fleet of Ferraris. I think I paid about $77 for my 2001 Focus. You'll love paying car insurance in NC. I had New Jersey Manufacturers, which for NJ is the best. My car insurance is less than half of what it was in NJ! If your house is outside of a city it will mean that you will probably pay just the county tax rate. This could mean even more savings for you. Where in NJ are you from?
And have a Happy New Year !!

We are in Jackson NJ ( near six flags Great Adventure) off 195 halfway between Trenton and the Jersey Shore..We just submitted our offers on property in Cherryville based on what we were told about the Gaston County rates..so thanks to everyone who confirmed what we were told...just wasn't aware of the personal property tax but thanx for clarifying that. We hope to move into the area in 2-3 years as soon as the market improves here in NJ so we can get a good price here..not in any particular hurry once we secure our land there to build on before it too rises in a few years..
