My wife got a job transfer a year ago, and we moved from Orange County.

I miss my mom and kids, but I have no regrets. We love it here, especially the realistic cost of living. Very nice people, great weather (even the 22 degrees outside right now at 9 am).

Moved to Lake Wylie from Marin County seven years ago. Our friends thought we were crazy, but after visiting us they are contemplating a similar move. We have never regretted our decision to move.

We moved from Pasadena.

I couldn't even watch the Rose Parade yesterday. Too homesick. We did watch the game though! Way to go Trojans!!!! Our home was a little over a mile from the Rose Bowl.

My reaction wasn't as severe as yours but I did miss my family.

I spent a few NY Eves sleeping on Orange Grove before the parade, so it did bring back some memories.

We just moved one month ago from southern OC. I miss it so much but am adjusting to life here. I think once we find a home and get settled in that way things will be easier. We are going to visit in March and I can't wait....Disneyland here we come!!!!

That has been hard for me too. We always had CA passes to DL and went at least once a month just for a day. Going to DisneyWorld is much more effort and expense as we have to get lodging, food, etc....

BUT, I can't seem to go without my Disney fix, so we are headed to WDW in a week!!! My 3.5 year old (adopted last year) has never been and I am SOOOO excited to see his reactions to all of it.

We are moving from Ventura County, about 10 minutes drive from Malibu. We also lived in San Francisco. How was the transition for you? Charlotte does not seem as international as CA. On our street there is no american family:-). It's a great mix of Lebanon, Israel, Venezuela and Czech (that's us) ...

Are you talking about here you have no American familes? Or in CA?

let's see....I have been here almost 3 years and I think my desire to return to CA has only diminished marginally. If DH offered to go back I would jump at it. There are some wonderful people here and I have met many internationals, but have had to kind of hunt for them, kwim? One man came up to me in a fast food place and said (about my Chinese son), "I assume he came here legally if you adopted him, right?" UGH!

Now, I know there are stupid people everywhere and Charlotte doesn't have the corner market on stupid people, but it really irritated me. I felt like saying, "No, he is illegal. He will be standing on the corner to do daylabor tomorrow if you have any work for him. I know he is only 3, but he can really help out around your house for you, that is why we got him anyway!"

What I miss isn't really about the calibur of people though.....there were plenty of idiots in CA!

It is mostly about the beach and the mountains (sorry, the *mountains* here are really hills), the attitude that anything goes, the feeling that you can take on the world and accomplish anything. The world is at your fingertips in most of SoCal. Here I couldn't even find a local university that would offer the program I needed. Well, you get the idea.
