Hello City Data!

I've been lurking from time to time here and see this as a nifty lil' website, so I join!

Anyways, I'm a senior returning to Charlotte for winter break. For a few years I've wanted to get a little involved in politics so why not start in my home city? I was sort of wondering if the city council meets for city planning issues. I was hoping to attend a couple of these meetings and maybe put in my 2 cents.

To be frank, I want to push a new urbanist hipster agenda....

You can do it. Just be sure to LOOK the part:

Move to Plaza Midwood. Buy some funky clothes down the street at Salvation Army; get a Republican friend. (You're allowed just ONE); wear a pair of oversized Wayfarers; buy a battered copy of the biography of Che Guevara at a used book store and carry it conspicuously in your back pack. Buy a beat up single gear bicycle. And smoke European cigarettes.

Maybe add a knitted sock cap, a beard, a pair of Converse sneakers, and you're good. If you're a girl, a lampshade can replace the sock cap and a tattoo on the side of your neck will do just fine instead of a beard.

Here's the city council meeting schedule:

City Council Meetings

What will be your agenda? An agenda-less agenda? Kewl.

Have you tried Brooklyn? It's Hipster City now.

Let the OP push it as a hipster agenda. It'll be over before it even starts.

Don't forget to use the word "ironic" in every instance other than when it actually applies. Also educate yourself on topics to an extent just short of being useful, but just enough to annoy others during "conversation'.

Alright, I lasted one hour and thirty minutes until I succumbed to boredom. I was joking about the whole hipster thing; I just wanted to see local government after taking some courses and voting for the first time.

I grew up in the Charlotte and I like the city, so maybe I can do something to help.

Its awesome how basically any (sane looking) citizen may enter the chamber and watch. Though, I understand why many dont...

At least I wasn't the guy who complained about fluoride in the water supply...
