Default Mooresville

What is it like?
Is it good for families? Good schools?
Are malls, stores, and hospitals nearby?
Safe?

use the SEARCH feature here. There is a wealth of information on Mooresville, the schools, and all surrounding things to see. There are several posts about this and I am sure it will help you tremendously.

Here's one of the threads - Moorseville, NC

It's a big "small town". There's lots of your typical retail and restaurants in Moorseville.

Lake Norman Regional Medical Center is in Moorseville.

Quote:
It’s all right here. Emergency services, cardiac care and stroke care. Orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists. Obstetricians and neo-natologists. Lake Norman Regional Medical Center encompasses a 117-bed hospital and medical campus dedicated to comprehensive health care services ranging from neurosurgery to oncology to home health.

Mooresville is a soccer moms paradise. The city is now the definition of suburb. Everything seems brand new and basically it is since Mooresville has seen most of its growth in the past 5 years. The city seems safe to me.

The official website of Mooresville has some pictures online.

Lake Norman Regional Medical Center is in Mooresville, and Presbyterian Hospital in nearby Huntersville. Both are new hospitals.

Not really a mall per se in Mooresville, but there is about every imaginable shopping place there with all the usual big box stores. Birkdale is in Huntersville, and Concord Mills in Concord and North Lake Mall in north Charlotte.

The biggest trouble issue for Mooresville is the rapid growth of the city. Traffic can be a huge problem ,especially the main corridor through the city which is Hwy 150, or I-77 which runs north/south through Mooresvile.

If you live west of I-77, the worst traffic is along Brawley School Rd. Also, the house prices are higher because you're closer to the lake. If you live east of I-77 (where I am), the traffic isn't as bad.

I've been here over a year now & love it!

How could I forget the infamous Brawley School Rd and Williamson Rds? Particulary that intersection. Yes, rethink it if you are buying property on Brawley School rd.

Mooresville resident here and love it!

GREAT for families, many, many subdivisions for families with children...

GOOD schools in Mooresville Graded and (IMO) even better schools in Iredell Statesville System...

No malls--persay, but LOTS of strip mall shopping. We have Super Target, Super WalMart, Old Navy, Best Buy, TJMaxx, Ross Dress For Less, Kohls, not to mention many other smaller stores, Rack Room Shoes, Goodies, etc. We have some of the best shopping in the Lake Norman area.

Hospitals--Lake Norman Regional Medical Center-- in Mooresville proper.
Lake Norman Regional Medical Center - Advancing Healthcare

VERY safe town...

LOW Iredell County taxes, almost half of that of Mecklenburg County...

I agree--Brawley School Rd., Williamson at exit 33 and/or Brawley, and exit 36 at Hwy 150-- all trafficky...BUT no more so then exit 28, or exit 25, or Sam Furr Road in Huntersville...traffic seems to be the reality of living in the greater Charlotte area...unfortunately

I am probably biased cause I am a Mooresville resident, but all in all, it's a GREAT town with much to offer!

Traffic is worst at the Brawley intersection IMO. I refuse to go that way anymore. It just plain terrible! More so than the Sam Furr Interchange. Also with 77 south in the mornings the commute from Mooresville can be a nightmare. On the other hand though taxes are cheaper. For how much longer who knows?

Just moved to Mooresville..grew up in Orlando, Florida. I have three children..one at Woodland Heights and the other is in preschool at Primrose off of Raceway Drive. We are in one of the last neighborhoods in the Point... I DRIVE both school aged daughters to school in the morning... the traffic following the dropoff at Woodland Heights Elementary is ridiculous as we poke five miles an hour for 20 minutes to travel 5 miles... HOWEVER it is manageable! It is redundant to say things are always "relative"... but it needs to be said again. I can deal with being on the road when the drivers around me are so NICE. I am amazed and proud to witness drivers showing every courtesy to those pulling out on the side streets (i.e. Isle of Pines). One car comes out from Isle of Pines and then one driver on Brawley School Road continues as another is let out behind. Yes, my commute is not fast..but I make the best of it by blasting High School Musical songs with my daughters! So proud to be a resident of Mooresville for so many reasons- this is just ONE!

Moorejess,

We are considering moving from Long Island to the FARMS. I have been looking for someone who knows the SCHOOLS. Can you please fill me in on the over crowding in the Wooland Heights School. Let me know Mom to Mom. You seem very positive about the traffic situation, thats a plus. Everyone else is not. Are you saying that that because the people are nice about it you just deal. Since you have been in Mooresville for 6 months now would there be anything that you would change in considering a move? And are there other places around the area that you would now consider knowing what you now know? Looking forward to your email.
Tracey
