We want to move up from S. FL and we're having trouble finding info on basic questions.

How long do you have to live in NC to establish residency?

How stringent are the yearly car inspections? Is it just emissions testing?

What's an average home insurance rate in High Point, Greensboro?

What's the property tax rate in the Triad area?

Are there any areas that are exclusive religiously?

Anything we forgot, please tell us.

Not sure I understand the residency question? If you mean to be able to get instate college tuition rates you need either a NC high school diploma or one year of residency. Other than that you are considered a resident once you have a home, apartment, or electric bill in your name.

Car inspections are very strict - much more so here than in SC for example. All places who inspect vehicles are state approved and have the same equipment to test your car - no sliding by just because the station owner likes you or you slip him a $20. It is not just emissions testing either.

Not sure about the home insurance rates in Greensboro, but in Charlotte you'll pay about $600 a year on a 1500 square foot home and about $1500. in taxes on that same home.

Hope this helps

Thank you. Guess the Daewoo with the messed up front end won't fly. I'm moving this question to the North Carolina forum.
