Default Even the "Good Places" have Crime (Union County)

I turned on the news tonight to hear the story of a woman and her 8 year old daughter found dead in their home on Tree Hill Road in Weddington. I suspect they'll find the husband and step-father of the little girl is the prime suspect. This type of crime seems to occur about every six months in the better areas of the Charlotte Region.

Default Not a wave.........

This type of story is something that can happen anywhere. The more successful people become the more stress enters their lives.

A bigger concern on "crime" is seeing random break-ins, robberies and car jackings moving south.

It looks like it is right at the 485 by-pass now.

Yes, this is horrible but again, its a situation where the suspect new the victims. This could happen anywhere and has little to do with good or bad areas of Charlotte.

The Weddington area is not/never has been free of crime. Especially lately. I would say our problems in the past have been mostly bored teenagers, not true anymore. I was thinking a min ago "well there are no drug deals going on", but HELLO. Weddington High School is supposed to have a horrible drug problem. The problems are just different as I see it.
Reality is crime can happen to anyone, at anytime, in any area. Protect yourself and your family and be aware of your surroundings.

As sad as it sounds,I think they are calling this crime a murder/suicide.
And as someone else stated about knowing the victims, this seems to be the case in alot of murders.

I did read that this was a murder/suicide in which the mother took her child's life then her own. How horrible and so sad.

Default domestic crime

The mother killed her child then killed herself. She couldn't afford to live the big lifestyle and huge house anymore. She got a divorce last year and her depression got worse. She thought it would be better to kill her child too then just herself so that the child didn't grew up not having a mother...pretty sick!

You definitly hear more about this situations a lot more in the past 5 yrs. everywhere.

This is very sad. My son went to school with the girl. They had counselors there today going to the fourth grade classes.
I agree this type of thing can happen anywhere, it just seems like this area has heard too many horror stories in a very short time.

Default sad

I hate to say but when I was doing counseling work this sort of thing happened to a lot of affluent people...it is like they could not deal with life if they had to move to a smaller house or less expensive way of life. Money plays a big part in these situations. It really is sad..no one can cope with anything anymore!

It seems that people are less resilient than they were in the past. I began to suspect that it was a murder/suicide rather than a double homicide, when there didn't seem to be a big rush to find the husband. I guess she couldn't deal with a life of "lowered expectations". I wonder if she had been diagnosed with clinical depression. What a tragedy!
