I know there have been a lot of posts asking about where to play dek/street/roller hockey in Charlotte...MYSTERY SOLVED!

+++++++++++++++++++++

Looking to play some roller hockey? Or join a street hockey league?
Come to the Morrison YMCA!

The Defeo Family Rink at the Morrison YMCA in Ballantyne is brand new with a smooth concrete surface (not a sport court). It's a great time!

There is usually a turnout of 10-20 for open roller on the weekends. Players are all levels and all ages. Dig out those skates and come play!

There is also a new street league that just began, but another will be forming this summer.

Info and directions are posted on their Facebook page.

More info below:

I've found tile is an amazing surface to skate on, the way you glide along effortlessly is unparalleled. As far as this place above, what punch card are they referring to? And $5 for 15 minutes of play on the weekend? I'm more then a bit confused.

You can buy a punch card at the YMCA for $50 good for 10 sessions. Or just pay $5 per session at the rink.

We play for 2.5+ hours each Thursday/Saturday.

I haven't played street hockey in 10 years. Wow. Good to see it's gaining steam here. Perhaps I'll dust off the stick and show my pathetic skills.

Don't even worry about the skills. Show off your ability to huff and puff while trying to keep up with the pace of the game. I know I will.

Just bumping this thread. As of right now we play Thursdays 6pm-8pm, and Saturdays 9am-12pm. These times are for inline hockey.

We consistently have two goalies and enough players to rotate lines/subs. Don't worry about age, we see a range or regulars from early 20's to mid 50's. As for the facility, the rink is outdoors. Google "Defeo family inline rink" to see pictures and further info.

Do you all play with a ball or inline puck? I'm moving from chapel hill where we have a great pickup league on sealed concrete rink. We play with a ball because the puck just isn't worth it (flips on its side).
Thanks!
