What are the best areas around Charlotte for 50 somethings that has low crime, nice scenery, homes around $150,000 or less, semi-rural but close to amenities? Concord, Salisbury, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill......ugh, decisions!

Will you have a commute? If so, will the commute be to Uptown or elsewhere?

Huntersville won't fit your price range. Salisbury is a little too far for commuting daily into Charlotte, but if you're semi retired and just come in once in a while it's thinkable.

What are you trying to get for $150K? If a basic 1950s-1970s era home without a garage in the country is sufficient, you can get down to $75,000 easily in Gaston County.
