I am looking for some input on best ways to commute from Huntersville (1 mile from exit 23 on 77) to Concord (up 29 near Carolina Mall - behind Northeast Medical Campus). My husband and I just put a contract on a house in Huntersville (Vermillion) and I just accepted a job in Concord. Kind of a weird commute. Any help would be appreciated.

I cant get google maps to work for me to design perfect route but from your location
Take Huntersville Concord Road (Gilead turns to this) til (you will pass Metrolina Green house and you cant miss it just hope the sun is not reflecting off it.
Turn Right on Huntersville Concord Road (yeah I know weird)
til it ends and turn right on Poplar Tent Road
Turn right on Derita road (pay attention to airport sign it loated on this road)
Turn left on Concord Mills Blvd.

This road is mostly country and very light traffic (for now) I would say it would take you 15 minutes to 20 minutes from point a to point b.
Beautiful ride with a few horse farms.

OOOO Im sorry I have not been to that mall in years when it was the only mall in that area.

I just googled it and it a different mall (a real small mall)
Base on my directions above the only change is stay on Poplar Tent
85 N
2 exits up turn on hwy 29

or take Sam Furr (hwy 73) to 85 N
one exit up to 29
Trishlee base on your location I this option would be quicker)

Either way is fine just traffic is heavy on Hwy 73 but not congested.

Thank you for clarification I didnt read the post correctly.

You can also stay on Poplar Tent which will take you to 29 if you want to avoid the highway.
Also from Poplar Tent you can take a left on either George Lyles/Kannapolis Pkwy (at intersection where Afton Village & Walgreens is) or International Dr.(go past Walgreens on Poplar) that will take you to 73 which also ends at 29 a little further up 29.
Take a look at the map on MSN maps and you'll be able to get a visual.

Thanks. So it might be possible to take 73 all the way to 29, assuming that's it's not to busy?

Yes you can do that....maybe do a dry run before you start work to check out the volume of traffic as I'm not sure what it's like during rush hour. You can take the highway if it's quicker (get off at exit 58 going south toward Concord) but I always like to have a few alternate routes to take just in case.

Carolina Mall is near downtown Concord & Northeast Medical Center on Highway 29 (I-85 exit 58).

Concord Mills is near the Speedway (I-85 exit 49)

They are -2- different malls!
