What are the best neighborhoods for minimal traffic/commute to Pineville? We need great elem schools, budget about 350k. We'd sacrifice sq footage for quality of life, schools etc. How are commutes from Providence HS zone, Matthews, maybe even south of Myers Park if we can afford something there?

You may want to expand your search into Union County. Now that 485 has been widened, commuting to Pineville from Weddington, Wesley Chapel and Marvin is under 30 mins

We would like to be somewhere walkable if possible. At least to local restaurants/parks. We lived in clt almost five years ago before relocating but we lived uptown -- now that we have kids that's not exactly what we want or need. However we do enjoy the urban lifestyle so I'm not sure Union Cty is what we're looking for...

I'd say Belmont. We are in the same situation with wants (house around $350, walkable to a downtown area) and drive to work around airport. We were highly impresses with our trip to Belmont. Tuesday night and the restaurants were all packed. The only unfortunate thing for us is that we do not want new construction and that is what seems most walkable to downtown Belmont.

Check out Park Crossing (top end of budget) or Cameron Woods (well within budget). They're right around the corner from Pineville. Tons of families and great amenities, convenient to Ballantyne and South Park. You'll need to keep your cars, but you could walk to Quail Corners or the proposed shopping center across the street for kicks. Schools are rated average but have been on the rise over the past few years.

Since you're looking at a commute to the airport area, you might want to check Kings Mountain. The downtown is being rehabbed, but there is still an assortment of businesses downtown & a nice little library. Belmont would be a good option for the OP, though.

try madison park? Some houses are fairly close to montford and a few nice restaurants and bars over there which is like a 5-15 minute walk not really too long. also its about a 15 minute drive to the airport and about a 20 minute drive to pineville. Hope this helps mate!

All the neighborhoods OP mentioned shouldn't be a bad commute to Pineville. Maybe worth checking into Fort Mill/Baxter Village.

Why not just stay in the area?? Why are you recommending he get on the interstate?!?

For 350k he should be able to find something right off Carmel/Johnston road there.

And there are also many options in the Ballantyne area that fill these requirements as well.
