Default North of Charlotte or South?

My wife and I are seriously considering moving to NC in the near future and the Charlotte area is our plan of attack...I am not a city type person so I don't want to be in the heart of Charlotte so my question is....what areas are better to live in north or south of the big city?......A few notes, one of us plays ice hockey year round and has to be within a 20 mile radius of public rinks, golf is not a problem because there are courses all over...of course crime and jobs play a big part too but my field (auto and truck repair etc.) I don't see as a problem....any opinions will help and are appreciated...thanks

The suburbs north and south of Charlotte are nice, but where you will be working will be a big consideration. If you go south, look at Ft. Mill, Tega Cay, and Rock Hill. If you go north, look at Mooresville, Huntersville, and Concord. Good luck!!!
