pay the extra rent, got to charlotte. RAMBO style police antics are not fun. i can name six area's matthews police sit and wait to harass local townfolks. tell me police detectives dressed in black swat uniforms stopping traffic is NORMAL?? i think NOT!!! do some research on the subject, talk to some local attorneys and you'll find out the truth. matthews turns in more arrest warrants than any other small town surrounding charlotte, why is that??? police on steriods, thats why! matthews police don't eat donuts, they eat steriods, and the poor town folks pay for it. MOVE HERE, FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF......BETTER YET, ASK MR. PURSER HOW MUCH HE LOVES LEE MYERS AND MATTHEWS. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A TOWN STEALING A 70 ACRE FARM NOWHERE NEAR DOWNTOWN, UNDER EMINATE DOMAIN LAWS?? I THINK NOT!!!

I would imagine no one likes to lose property thru the process of emenient domain - but it is sometimes necessary for the good of all.

With all the crime in Charlotte and the LACK OF enough police officers I cannot believe you (or anyone) would complain that Matthews has too many police officers. I love Charlotte too, but living with more protection would be a positive for me, not the negative you make it out to be. AND, who cares what the uniforms they wear look like??? Not sure I understand your objection to the SWAT style as I think they look pretty sharp.

I can't say that I remember a single scene in any of the Rambo movies where he issues someone a speeding ticket.

My wife works in Matthews and from what I've seen and heard, it's a pretty nice place. I just take care not to speed around there (which is a GOOD thing, IMO).

I lived in Matthews for over 20 years. It is a wonderful place. It has grown so much since we first moved there--we have now relocated to TN, but we loved it there and had no complaints. There are lots of nice neighborhoods, the schools are okay, the people are very friendly. You pretty much have everything you need in Matthews and don't really have to leave the area for much. I don't think you would be unhappy at all. Hope that helps you!

The Matthews po po are an eager bunch but you are overstating the case. I speed through Matthews all the time and have never gotten a ticket. Even if I did get a ticket I have a friend or two who could make it go away.

May I ask how I am overstating the case? The ticket is sitting in front of me and states $15 fine and $120 court costs...Sorry understating $135. Speed 54 in 45.

your all missing the point. extra police protection, YOU WOULD THINK is a PLUS. but when they (extra police) attack locals to keep the "extras" on the payroll, its NOT PRETTY. go ask some charlotte lawyers about the enormous amout of warrents sent in and you will find the TRUTH. i heard of one poor local buy (16) bringing his girlfriend home an hour late one sat. night. the father blocked the road so the boy could not drive home. the simply drove AROUND the father. afterwards the father called matthews police, who were glad to issue warrents for hit/run against the poor kid. $15,000 later the poor boy beat the charges, but it cost him $15,000 in lawyer fees over nothing. THIS IS MATTHEWS SO BE WARNED!!!

ok, i understand stealing a mans farm he struggled on and made payments on for 30 years is OK. lee myers did it JUST for the GOOD of the TOWn, GOT IT, NOW I FULLY UNDERSTAND. FUNNY, THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED ANYWHERE ELSE IN NORTH CAROLINA!!!

HOW ABOUT hazel blodgget, lee myers hired him as city manager at a salary of $81,000. all this seems to be in line, but ONE GREAT BIG PERK turned up by a charlotte local repporter. seems myers and blodgget swung a deal on the side, blodgget is getting $2500 a month for house payment on his beach house, until its sold. well, funny part is, its NOT even listed with a realtor, its for sale by owner. wow, i wish i worked for lee, sure would be nice to have my beach house payment made for free!!!

Your posts are sounding more and more like the rantings of a paranoid person. Hazen Blodgget is a fine man doing a great job, I have NEVER heard a single complaint about his job performance. Unless you have some links to proof of all your strange accusations no one is going to take you seriously - you are just wasting your time posting. The truth is Matthews is and always has been a nice little town with a great family atmosphere.
