Can anyone suggest the fastest route from Weddington to Uptown during rush hour? Also, does anyone have experience taking the express bus?

Express bus is the way to go! My husband doesn't take it from as far out as Weddington, but he loves it. Gets to work uptown without being frustrated or aggravated every day Seriously, from the outer reaches or Charlotte a lot of folks are now taking the buses. They are mostly new, clean and very safe.

Default Express Buses

Are there a lot of routes for the Express Buses? Do a lot of the charlotte suburbs have express buses that you can commute into uptown?

Check out the website for the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). Here is some info we recently received by email from them about some of the express routes:

http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/CATS/Riding+CATS/route+changes.htm (broken link)

41X Arrowood Express
Route 41X Arrowood Express will have minor adjustments to trip times. In addition, the Uptown routing for route 41X Arrowood Express will be adjusted. See the description located in the section relating to Uptown express route changes.

80X Concord Express
The inbound afternoon trip on 80X Concord Express that leaves from the Target/Home Depot lot at 4:00 p.m. will be discontinued because of low ridership. In addition, the uptown routing for route 80X will be adjusted. See the description located in the section relating to Uptown express route changes.

54X URP Express
Route 54X University Research Park Express will be improved to operate every 15 minutes. In addition, the Uptown routing for route 54X URP Express will be adjusted. See the description located in the section relating to Uptown express route changes.

88X Lincoln County Express
Route 88X Lincoln County Express will be improved to offer four morning trips and four afternoon trips. In addition, the Uptown routing for route 88X Lincoln County Express will be adjusted. See the description located in the section relating to Uptown express route changes.

64X Independence Blvd. Express
Route 64X Independence Blvd. Express will be adjusted in the morning in the Uptown area. Morning trips will operate inbound on 4th, continue the current routing, which is left on Church, left on Stonewall, left on College, and then trips will end at 5th/College instead of 11th/College. The routing for outbound afternoon trips will not be adjusted.

65X Matthews Express
Route 65X Matthews Express will be adjusted in the morning in the Uptown area. Morning trips will operate inbound on 4th, continue the current routing, which is left on Church, left on Stonewall, left on College, and then trips will end at 5th/College instead of 11th/College. The routing for outbound afternoon trips will not be adjusted.

In addition, outbound morning trips and inbound afternoon trips on route 65X Matthews Express will be discontinued. Customers riding outbound in the morning can use 64X Independence Express and travel to the Matthews-Independence Pointe Park and Ride, and stay on the bus to travel to areas near downtown Matthews. In the afternoon, customers can board route 65X in downtown Matthews and ride to the Matthews-Independence Pointe Park and Ride, and remain on the bus which will operate as 64X Independence Express to Uptown.

45X Carmel Road, 61X Arboretum, 62X Rea Road, 66X Sharon Road
The Uptown routing will be adjusted on 45X, 61X, 62X and 66X. Morning trips will continue to enter Uptown on 4th Street, continue on 4th to Church, turn left on Church, right on Stonewall, continue into Graham, and turn left on Trade to Gateway.

Afternoon trips will start near Trade and Irwin (near Gateway), continue east on Trade, turn right on Church, left on 3rd and exit Uptown. There are many bus stops along the route, including bus stops located on 3rd between Church and Tryon, and on 3rd at College.

Default Express Bus

Loves Mountains,

Thanks for the bus info. Do these bus stops have a "park and ride" ? I'm just wondering how it would work, if you wanted to take a bus to your designated location are you able to park your car or do you need to be dropped off by someone. Or are some of these bus stops within walking distances to some subdivisions.

We currently live in the Raleigh area and we're looking to relocate to the Charlotte area because of the public transportation options.

We do have several park and ride lots around town for people who are not on a bus line. Many residental areas have stops also. My husband is able to walk to the front of our neighborhood and the bus picks him right up

Can you suggest some towns in Union or York County where there are express buses. It's hard to decipher this info from the CATS routes website.

Thanks.

Thanks.

The only 2 that I am aware of are in Monroe (Union county) and Fort Mill (York, SC) These are park and ride lots for people coming from those outlying areas. I could give you exact locations if you need to know that

Yes, that would be great. I'm trying to find out how long of a commute these areas would be to uptown. We currently live in the Raleigh area and we're looking to relocate to an area that would give us public transportation options, good school district and housing options between 200 - 225K.

Thanks for all of your help.
