Can anyone recommend a mid-sized community that would be in the south Charlotte area? And by mid-sized I'm thinking around 50,000 - 75,000 pop. We're coming from a town of about 50,000 that has 2 major medical facilites, the usual box stores and movie theaters, neighborhood schools and a good park and rec program for the kids. Looking for something like that. Need good schools (elementary, middle and high school) with a commute into Charlotte of 30 minutes or less. Low crime and home prices around 350 with activities for the kids (basketball, football etc). I saw the pictures of Mathews and Mint Hill and while they seem very nice I'm wondering if they might be a little "smaller" than what we're looking for. Thanks for any suggestions.

The best answer to your question is to check out Ballantyne. This planned community in the south end of the county is very popular for its great neighborhoods and retail centers. Schools here are the best in the county and the YMCA is extremely nice with great kids programs. Good luck in your search
