just cut the TWC cord. my bill is now $61. now all I need is a wireless so I can save another 10 dollars a month.

I use my father's verizon account to access espnwatch and a few other channels on the Apple TV app.

hopefully they speed internet up soon because ESPN still lags on the app but I can deal with it.

TWC actually tried to get me to pay $20 for basic cable. I can get those same channels with an antenna for free and the HD is better.

I saw others say this on on another forum, and I've noticed it on mine, that TWC modems are being re-provisioned for the higher speeds. It happened on mine in the last day or so.

My new modem came Saturday and I got everything registered and hooked up. We should start receiving the Emails this week about when the speed boost will start. For my area (Gastonia) I believe it's August 7th at the latest. Excited to get 200/20 That's fast!!!

^It's a huge upgrade considering the current version of that plan is 30/5.

BUMP: I was opening mail and almost threw out what I thought was TWC junk mail when I remembered this thread. Sure enough, I opened it and it was a letter talking about better speeds and to order a new modem to handle the higher speeds.

It gave a link to: http://www.timewarnercable.com/en/en...twc-modem.html

In case you didn't get your letter or you threw it away (it really looked like the rest of the junk mail, not an official letter/envelope), you can use that link to order a modem if you lease.

I just read the email from TWC and checked my speed.

I have standard internet which was 15mbps download and 1mbps upload. Sure enough...it is now 50mbps download and 5mbps upload. Competition is a great thing.

I'm in Cornelius btw.

My speed was upgraded yesterday to 200/20 mbps from 30 mbps. I've confirmed I am indeed receiving 200 Mbps download speeds when hard wired to the modem (Arris TW supplied). However, wirelessly I am only getting 40ish mbps on 2.4 ghz and 80ish Mbps on 5 ghz. I've errors changing the channels to 1, 6, and 11 and that doesn't help either.

Anybody else experiencing slower witless speeds than advertised? Any thoughts in what it could be?

Are you using their modem that offers wireless too? I find the best speed with my own router and their modem with the wireless capability turned off.

Here's an idea of speeds you should get wirelessly:

What is the actual real-life speed of wireless networks ? :: SG FAQ

I currently have the 30mbps and will get 200mbps. Interested in seeing how much faster I can stream my roku/smart tv.

Yes, I am using the modem with built-in wordless router from TW (brand = Arris).

At this point, I'm not even concerned about speed optimization as I'm not even breaking 100 Mbps (50% of what I should be getting).

Thanks for the link.

Just got the new modem today, wow, it's huge! Installing it tomorrow. Going to try it both ways and see if it works better with or without my router.
