I'm interning at Lowe's over the summer in what will hopefully turn into a full-time position. They're putting me up in Davidson, so I'm looking for a gym either in Davidson or Mooresville. Can you all recommend any? I don't mind paying more if it means it will be a little less busy compared to the $10/month places. I would also like one that doesn't have a big sign up fee, and one that I could pre-pay for or cancel after my internship. My only requirements are a decent variety of free weights and some squat racks. Thanks!

Gold's Gym of Lake Norman is a pretty decent gym, but can get crowded during peak hours. It costs around $30 or so a month, but has everything you need and then some.

However, the real perk is that it is 24/7 so you can go any time you want.

There is also the YMCA in Mooresville which has even more stuff like basketball, pool.

There is a y in davidson as well. They usually have some sort of summer arrangement. The good thing is you can use all the Y's in NC for free, if you are in the place to visit several. They generally do have good cardio, nautilus and classes.
