My family is looking to move in June. My husband works for Pepsi and I see there is one in the 28208 zipcode and 28209 zip code. We have three daughters and I am VERY cautious as to where we will move to. Can anyone give me ideas for areas with affordable housing (suburbs), low crime rates, and good schools that will be also convenient to where he will be working? I have been researching but it is always better to here from people who actually live there. Numbers can't tell you everything.

How is the job market?? I am an accountant.

HELP PLEEEEEEEESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure exactly, but are those zip codes off of South Blvd by any chance? What do you consider affordable housing?

The 28209 zip code is off of South Blvd, but the 28209 zip is off of Terminal St. I would consider affordable around $170K. There re also locations in Rutherfordton and Cherryville. How far away from Charlotte are they?

Nothing on South Blvd it is suitable for a family looking for a nice safe place to live in that price range. Although you can have a realtor check the 28209 area for homes between Tyvola Rd and Woodlawn Rd just in case. I would not suggest any area south of Tyvola until you drive over I485.

You husband will probably need to accept at least a 30 minute commute (if not more) to get what you are looking for I'm afraid. There are homes in that price range down in Pineville where South Blvd becomes known as Polk St or Lancaster Hwy. Look for homes in 28134, in particular a neighborhood called "Danby" I believe. Good luck.

Rutherfordton is a good 70-80 miles to Charlotte. Cherryville is in the Charlotte metro area, but is out in a more rual area. It's actually a nice town. A drive into Charlotte at a non-rush hour would be about 45-60 minutes.

Oh no, that is what we are moving away from. No more rural areas or hour commutes! Thanks for the suggestions. Any others will be greatly appreciated.

Does it have to be pepsi. Coke also has a plant in Gastonia I believe. Once 485 opens up so would you options on a less travel time.

Not sure if this will be of any help but there is a Pepsi Bottling Group located in Rock Hill, SC (Rock Hill is just outside of Charlotte across the NC/SC stateline)

457 E Springdale Rd, Rock Hill, 29730
(803) 324-7688

....there is also a Coca Cola Bottling in Rock Hill, SC too.

If it did pan out there are numerous areas around here that would be in your price rance, good schools, and safe.

Good Luck to you!

I believe there is a Pepsi plant in Bryson City. If it's not a Pepsi plant it's Coke . There's also one in Sevierville,TN. Bryson City has great prices and very little crime.
