Just read in old thread about tiffen service (delivery food service) and was reminded that I have yet to find a good Indian restaurant since my last favorite closed a few years ago.

Any recommendations for SE Charlotte from Pineville to Matthews? Ambience doesn't bother me in the least and prefer something casual. And definitely the use of the tandoori oven and not a pseudo/faux/trendy/modern place.

One of our neighbors opened one recently in Pineville, I haven't been there so I don't know what the food is like but it is a casual indian restaurant: https://www.facebook.com/chaupaati
We're probably going to try them out this week.

We got take out from Chaupaati last night. I'm no expert, but everything was tasty and the restaurant was packed with Indian families, which seemed like a good sign.

If you're in the University area, the absolute best place for traditional indian buffet fare is Passage to India. You may not be enthralled by the parking lot view and questionable reflective entrance, but if you do make it to the buffet, you will not be disappointed.

Fresh, tasty, hot, authentic Indian food. Best in Charlotte IMO and relatively inexpensive. Next to the Gandhi market, which is worth a visit as well if you're into cooking curries or other ethnic foods at home.

If I'm ever there, I'll try it but I rarely venture out of the south here. If you are ever in Pineville, check out Patel brothers. It's an awesome market too. We go there a lot.

Try using Yelp to search. Tamarind just opened in Matthews, it is replacing Soma Grill. Woodlands is my favorite but it is on Albermarle Rd.

We've always had great luck with The Bombay Grille in Pineville.

I have an Indian friend who swears by Blue Taj in Ballantyne, but I've yet to try it.
