I haven't done any fishing since I moved down here from Long Island almost 2 years ago and I miss it - even though my fishing was infrequent/recreational. I'd like to do shore fishing relatively close to home in western Concord if possible but not mandatory. Has anyone had experience fishing at Frank Liske Park in Cabarrus County? There are supposed to be a few species there. I'm wondering: What time of year is the "season", is it catch/release or can I (would I want to!?) eat what I catch, and do I need a license in addition to the park's fishing fee? Any input, from shore-anglers is appreciated!

You wouldn't want to eat the fish as there is landscaping run off of various chemicals.

You would likely be better off heading to the lakes east of there , or Norman at night. I have never been there before , but based upon what particular experience you seek , it may be hit or miss. Given the likely species present , there is no season , they would likely strike year round. You will need licensure , which runs $18 at Walmart or any sporting goods store. One of these days , you should head far west , between 150 to 225 miles west and give that a shot. I took 6 trips in April , and left with no less than 10 on each outing. Needless to say , I ended up giving them away to relatives and coworkers , but they are there. There are yellow perch present , which range from 8 to 13 inches , smaller on average than those in coastal areas , but larger than those landed daily in the metro.

I'd suggest High Rock Lake.
