I stop at the DMV in the hood I mean Idlewild road location. Like most older goverment buildings in the city it has seen it better days. I like the setup and the modern technology but man that place needs a face lift.

Carry only the cash that is needed for the DMV. I never been wary being anywhere in Charlotte during the Day hours except trying to attempt a short cut on Tuckaseegee Road.

The written test is on computer and they have plenty of them for use, just bring some alcohol pads to clean the head phones and keyboard due to all kind of walks of life enter there. It was around 11 a.m when I arrived and there was no one waiting but the place was a hopping but this coming from someone who is use a dmv office the size of a bedroom.

I moved here just before Thanksgiving and made the mistake of trying to go to the Idlewild location the Wednesday before the holiday. *Four hour* wait. Literally.

I went to the location in Salisbury (I know, somewhat far), but the drive isn't terrible, and they got me in and out in a reasonable amount of time. All of the metro Charlotte locations are terrible all day, every day in 90% of cases.

I went to the tag office next to BJ's off Independence, and the idiots who couldn't read what line to be in and the somewhat impersonal environs notwithstanding, it wasn't awful.
