It might be apparent that by using the name NYBLKQueen, that color might be a key player. Now, if I put my name as CLTWHT(meaning white), I would be labeled as a racist and it would be assumed that I would be anti-black. Being that BLK refers to race, it is could likewise be assumed that this person would make race a major issue regardless of whether race is an issue or not and the race card would be thrown out to play.
I'm so sorry that you feel that way because of my name. Yes I am of African American Decent, yes I grew up in New York, and no I'm not racist. I will not apologize for who I am. Race plays an issue with me all the time. When you are followed in a store because of the color of your skin, when you try to help folks and they walk away from you and refer to you as is a N***er, in 2008 then you can talk to me. I'm always reminded of the color of my skin. DO I make it a MAJOR issue? No because I know not everyone in the world thinks that way. Do I live in a fantasy world where everyone is color blind? No I don't. If you wanted to refer to yourself as CLTWHT that would be your choice. When I came up with my name, it was on 3 simple prinicples, NY cause that's where I grew up, BLK because I'm African American, and Queen because I think all women should liken themselves to royalty.
Here's the article from Charlotte.com
----------------------------------------------
Charlotte lawyer Nick Mackey was found in contempt of court Monday for failing to show up for the December trial of one of his clients.
District Court Judge Donald Boone fined Mackey $100 for the offense.
"You shouldn't be late," the judge told Mackey.
Mackey did not testify but gave notice in court that he intends to appeal.
Mackey's 20-year-old client was charged with possession of marijuana and resisting an officer, and was in jail awaiting trial Dec. 13.
Mecklenburg District Judge Tom Moore ordered a contempt hearing for Mackey after he failed to appear for the trial, and was late for court the next day when the judge summoned Mackey for an explanation. Moore told the Observer he wasn't satisfied with Mackey’s explanation.
Moore testified during Monday's hearing that Mackey told him: "It just slipped by. I just couldn't get there. Something like that."
Mackey declined comment as he left the courtroom Monday.
Now he's going to appeal a contempt conviction. This is great. I have yet to hear Mackey give a reasonable explanation or take responsibility for anything that's come up to date. This guy is coming across as a total loser.
Vindaloo, your reference to names and assuming to know their meaning and the intent behind, would be like me assuming you are Indian or Pakistani as you like to be named after a hot curry. However I did not make that presumption or 'assume' it was purposely done to reveal or cause racial comments. Seeing blk or wht in someones user name never gives me cause to think immediately of race or that the soul intent of their posting is anything other than commentary on the subject at hand.
It has been nice to read the intelligent discussion on the goings on re the Sheriff issues, I look forward to reading much more in this thread. Have a wonderful day chaps.

If he'd just own his mistakes, it would buy him a little more rspect than he has now, which I am sure is next to none.
I just can't possibly imagine putting a man who filed bankruptcy in charge of a budget as large as the one at the SD. Makes no sense to me.
I feel like he should know when to cut and run. This would be the best time. He's in a hole as far as his past AND public opinion. He'll be under a microscope if he does eventually get the job.
A crook in charge of law enforcement. Now that's a novel idea.
