How soon does BI-LO and Harvey's Supermarket exit Mecklenburg County and North Carolina?
There was a Bi-Lo in Shelby, years ago. Based on the supermarkets in Shelby, my guess is that Ingles drove them out.
My guess is that the Gastonia Lidl is attracting people who never went to Aldi, & after going to Lidl, they are checking out the Aldi as well. The Aldi manager told me that their business isn't suffering & Lidl is doing a steady business. On the weekends the Lidl is getting people from Lake Norman & Charlotte. Some are also wandering into the Aldi.
The clock is ticking for several stores in Gastonia.

All those 70s and 80s style stores like Bi-Lo and Galaxy and Honey's are going to close at a faster rate now. We talked about them in this same thread pages back. Everyone is following gentrification these days even the 13k a year twenty-something to thirty-something working at your local fast food place.. Walmart will pretty much take every market Harris Teeter and Croger(?) doesn't.. Aldi's(?) and those other small stores will probably linger a while longer.

I've been going between Ingles & Aldi for years. Now I've added Lidl to the mix. There's a handful of things that I go to Walmart Neighborhood Market for. Ingles has their own dairy & when you watch the sales, some of their sales on the Laura Lynn products can be competitive with Aldi.
Before Bob Ingle died there was open discussion west of Charlotte that he was looking at Belmont & Gastonia. It's baffling that there isn't an Ingles in Hickory, Gastonia, or Mooresville.

You used to be able to buy jars of dehydrated vegetable chips in the spice aisles of grocery stores & supermarkets. I haven't seen them in years. Do any supermarkets or grocery stores still carry them?
