Thanks for the posting Esse. I shop at the Indian grocer on Williamson, Mooresville. There are Indian/Pakistani places all over town. I don't know if you mentioned the Ex- Tryon Mall dump (really an eye-sore) but great Asian grocery stores there and a couple of good Asian restaurants.

Wow Supermarket has stores in Monroe, Gastonia, & Charlotte. It's Hispanic, similar to Compare Foods.
There is also Anh Dao Oriental Market on South Blvd. They moved into a larger space a few months ago. And Kim Anh in Whitehall. There have been complaints of the rudeness of staff, however. I did not experience this at Hatoya or Anh Dao, which is where I take my business.
On another note, I was sad to pass by the Fresh Market on Mallard, which was closed. I’m jealous of everyone in the neighborhood who got some great items at a discount. I wish I had known about the store closing. I enjoyed shopping there when I lived on that side of town.

Last year I went to the Gastonia store the Sunday after they opened. It was busy but manageable. I was at the Gastonia store last Tuesday. It looked like this week's specials were skewed towards all things pumpkin. (They were putting stuff on the shelves.) They've probably saved some of the specials from the last few weeks, so maybe some Asian &/or Iberian items, possibly some Italian for the Concord store.

I went Friday afternoon. It was a little crowded, especially in the front of the store where everybody has to freeze to a stand-still when they first walk in. The rest of the store wasn't too bad. I picked up 2 packs of Bratwurst and some ice-cream (I'm on a new health-kick) and only had to wait for one person ahead of me on line. They don't seem to have hand-baskets, so if you don't want to push around a cart for only a couple of items, maybe bring your own bag.
