Harris Teeter #258 should be adding a pharmacy also. (A pharmacy permit for Harris Teeter Pharmacy #258 has not been issued yet by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.)
We'll be visiting Gastonia soon and thought there was a Lowes Foods there. There were 3 but all are gone. Who ran them out of business since there is only one Publix and one Teeter?

Lowes pulled back from the greater Charlotte area largely to focus on markets where they have more dominant market share (like Hickory).
Walmart, Ingles, Bi-Lo, and Food Lion won the market share war in Gastonia. Aldi and Lidl are likely going to spread quickly too in this supermarket. Bi-Lo's time is coming probably soon.
With a median household income of $40k in Gastonia, there are only so many upper income households for a more upscale supermarket like Lowes to split with Ingles, Harris Teeter, and Publix.

People in Gastonia usually either go to Kings Mountain or Dallas for Ingles. The Ingles in Bessemer City is an old, smaller one. I ran into a couple of priests from Gastonia at the Kings Mountain store in July. Ingles is definitely cheaper than shopping at a Teeter & potentially Publix as well. The Kings Mountain Ingles drew people from the Shelby Teeter & later Lowes Foods. The Kings Mountain & Dallas Ingles drew people from the Gastonia Lowes Foods. If you play the sales right at Ingles, they can be competitive with Aldi on certain items.
You're right about Bi-Lo. The Bi-Lo at Union & Hudson is going to be killed when Lidl opens next week. As it stands, their business has been people running in there after shopping at Aldi. Now they'll get the business left after people shop at Aldi & Lidl.

The Publix is in the old Lowes Foods building off Gaston Day School Rd. If you want to hit a store with stock that your local stores might not have, try either the Kings Mountain or Dallas Ingles. If you wait until the 28th, the Gastonia Lidl will be open. I dont know how close you are to the Indian Land & Rock Hill Lidls.
If anyone ran Lowes Foods out of Gastonia, my vote would be Ingles. Neither Publix nor Teeter were there when Lowes Foods left. People who had never set foot in Aldi discovered it & it's been a madhouse since then.

I wonder how BI-LO is doing down there as well?
Not well. I used to hear people mention going to Bi-Lo, but not for a while. The Bi-Lo at Union & Hudson in Gastonia has survived by people running in there after shopping at Aldi. Check Google maps for the location of the Gastonia Lidl. Then look at the intersection of Union & Hudson. You've got Aldi & Lidl with Bi-Lo in the middle. Bi-Lo is taking the hit, there.

Bi-Lo should have never bought out Winn-Dixie to be honest. I think if BI-LO were to close up shop, Food Lion or the discount stores will take most of its customer base
