Thanks. Yes, it's still the Charlotte market.

Just got to the Aldi in Shelby after paying property taxes. It's open while it's being enlarged.

Back to Ingles. . . Their annual sale geared to New Years is on. Do any of the other chains do sales of greens & beans?

I was talking with a woman at Ingles today. She told me that the Aldi in Shelby is temporarily closed for the remodel. The Lidl is under construction.

In another major upgrade initiative, Southeastern Grocers is now upgrading the private label brands at Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie stores. There will be a new SE Grocers Prestige brand, as well as some other basic ones. Hopefully they will keep the Chek Cola, which is a popular Winn-Dixie brand. But for the most part, I prefer the house brands at Publix, often on sale or BOGO items. Bi-Lo is struggling with declining sales and closing stores and is trying yet another revitalization strategy similar to Food Lion, which is also rebranding with a "refreshing" campaign.

Publix is fairly busy. They should be zeroing in on locations for at least one, if not two distribution centers in NC soon. they have sites in Richmond.

According to WSOC-TV, Publix is apparently seeking a site for a new store near the Arboretum on Hwy. 51. But Harris Teeter allegedly has a contract prohibiting another supermarket within the same shopping center as their Arboretum store, so it will likely be down the road nearby.

I believe there may be a Harvey's down in Greenwood in the central Lake region, but not really the main part of the Upstate near Greenville-Spartanburg. In the GSP area, most underperforming BI-LO locations have closed rather than converted.
