I lived in the Raleigh area for 17 years and am ready for a change of venue. Thinking of relocating to Concord, Indian Trail, Matthews, or Belmont. I am not familiar with Belmont and would appreciate any feedback on the area. I am a single woman in her 40s looking to buy a townhouse or small home.
Hi Fresca99, All the locations you mentioned are great. I know Concord, indian Trail and Matthews well but not Belmont. I do know that the taxes are higher in Gaston county. If you like the Concord area, I would also consider Harrisburg. It is a great town and now with 485 complete, it is much more easy to get around. Mint Hill is also a great town that is next to Matthews.
I would consider all these places. Where will you be working?

I'd suggest that you compare property costs. If a property in Belmont costs less than a comparable property in one of the other locations wouldn't the property tax rate not be an issue?
Concord isn't bad. Wife and I have lived in Concord since 2012 after living in Mooresville. Since 85 was completed 4 lanes until Hwy 73, we've had zero traffic issues, and now that 485 is complete, a trip to Huntersville is just about 10 minutes from our home.
Downtown Concord has started doing Food Truck Friday, which is kinda cool and they have a lot of people down on Union Street having a good time in the community. If you're into giving yourself a headache and hypertension, you can go to Concord Mills on a Saturday afternoon, and of course the Speedway has stuff going on throughout the summer and several times throughout the remainder of the year if you like auto racing.
