My fiance and I have been looking at 3 cities: Charleston, Charlotte, and Raleigh. We think that we're going to end up choosing between Charlotte and Charleston (Raleigh doesn't interest us as much, but we thought we would still check it out). My question is can someone give us some information on jobs? My fiance is an automotive technician who specializes in Cadillacs (but is able to work on various "brands" of cars), he is also interested in finding a position as a service advisor. Eventually he wants to get a job building custom engines, or possibly even start his own business. I will be attending a cosmetology school for Esthetics (skin care) where ever we decide to move (I already have the schools picked out so I don't need info on schools).

Can anyone give us information on those career fields for the Charlotte area? Will there be plenty of job opportunities for us and does the future outlook for these careers look good? Any information/advice anyone can give us would be greatly appreciated!

I've posted this same question in both the Raleigh and Charleston forums and got some really good responses (though the people in Charleston we more helpful). I was really hoping someone from Charlotte could give us some insight on this!

True, but please be advised - national companies are bringing in experienced mechanics, mechanical engineers, etc. to CLT to work for/with racing teams. It is an extremely competitive business.

It will be easy to find a job in any "spa" service around Charlotte. I always am seeing advertisements. I don't pay that close attention, but I know there are tons for nail techs and hair dressers. Can't speak for esthetics. But things are popping up all over. Not sure about automotive, only that it's near impossible to get into NASCAR. However, besides regular auto places, there are lots of other non-NASCAR racing in this area. I'm not sure how difficult it is to get in with those types.
