Hi!

Our family is moving to the area for a job at a large retailer based in Mooresville
I'd appreciate any advice on nice locations to live in between Charlotte and Mooresville (or ones to avoid!), but especially any advice on schools!

(Have a 4th grader)
Are the cms public schools good? Greatschools doesnt rate them highly.
I hear the mooresville area schools are well-liked

Obviously the lotteries for charter schools have passed.
Are there any private schools worth considering? (That arent religious based)
Seems that all the well-known private schools are way to the south.

I hear the I77 traffic is terrible, but I guess we would be anti-commute if we lived in north charlotte and commuted to Mooresville?

(I have been searching for this info and I've seen some old threads here, but seems the area has grown a lot since those threads)

Thanks for your time!

You can take a look at Cannon School. It's in Cabarrus county in Concord off of Poplar Tent Road. You can also look at neighborhoods in Cabarrus County. What's your budget for housing? Depending on where the job is in Mooresville you could take Rte 3 to work. We live in Winding Walk and my husband commuted to Mooresville via Rte 3.

Why not live in Mooresville if that is where your job will be. Mooresville Graded School District is one of the best. I have two who have already graduated and a rising 6th grader. I have always been pleased with our schools. As far as housing,we would need budget info,as well as an amenities preference.

Thanks for the responses!
Our house range is 350-450.
I was just thinking in between charlotte and mooresville because only one of has a job at this point.
So I just figured odds are good that the other will find a job closer to charlotte. But that will happen after we have to find a new place.

If I were you, I'd look at living in Mooresville or Concord. With all of the talks about a toll lane on I-77 through the Lake Norman area, the already bad traffic situation is only going to get worse with potential construction and toll lane traffic.

Hi, welcome to the area! You have one of the best scenarios, most people have to work south and want to live in Mooresville. We have two school systems in Mooresville, (Mooresville Graded and Iredell Statesville) both are excellent. I have a rising 10th grader and rising 7th, both have been in ISS since K, and both are on an excellent track. I have friends or clients at many of the surrounding schools, so if you have specific questions that I can't answer, I'll be glad to reach out to them. There really isn't any reverse commute anymore, traffic on I77 is bad both ways, but depends somewhat on your perspective. You will have many many options I. This price range, so maybe let me know some other qualifiers, do you prefer a neighborhood, sidewalks, new construction, lake access, lot size, community amenities? School wise, I would highly suggest a visit and tours to help narrow down the schools, and info from the parent teacher organization (PTO) can help you decifer what additional funds may be available to the school. (Can make a huge difference). Davidson Day has a great reputation and is just South at exit 30. What field are you in, maybe that would help to k ow where your future job may be? Please feel free to direct message me if you want to contact a local person.
