Where would be a great area to live in Charlotte using all public transportation and walkable (no biking) Oh and reasonably price rentals.
Close to grocery store, drug store, and restaurants. No car is due to a disability that ended driving
Thanks in advance for any advice
Best neighborhood without a car is Plaza-Midwood around Central and the Plaza - all you need is in the neighborhood. Not sure about reasonable rents though.
Definitely look at the Plaza Midwood neighborhood (intersection of Central Ave, and The Plaza). But this neighborhood is becoming expensive, depending. I would look at apts down Commonwealth Ave, they are still kind of affordable. There is a bus route that runs up Commonwealth and Central (They are parallel to each other). And PM has all the essential living amenities for the most part.
Can you define what you mean by "reasonably price rentals"?
1200.00 or less fir 2 bedroom, looking for tow home or condo if possible
I do not need all the amenities of luxury apartments
Hopefully will buy a tow home in the near future
Depending on your preferences, and thinking a little outside the box, the Rivergate area in SW Charlotte off Tryon/49 might work for you. There are several apartment complexes and many townhomes within walking distance of the Rivergate shopping center which has everything you could want (SuperTarget, Best Buy, Home Depot, Books A Million, CVS and more + at least 10 restaurants). Across the street on each corner are two more shopping centers with grocery stores and restaurants. On the other corner is a hospital and several doctors and dentists offices. Oh, and a public library. Everything you could need.
There are several CATS stops all along Tryon. Should not be a problem finding a schedule that meets your needs.
This area is much more suburban than what the area that others mentioned. Therefore, whether you liked this area would depend upon your lifestyle and commute time/job location.
I was wondering about that. The majority of that area does have sidewalks. I did a quick satellite view on my map and although the area has developed more since the shot, it looks like there is sidewalk access to almost everywhere except the hospital. With the new construction, that might have changed. I haven't paid attention.
Tryon IS wide, busy road, but has plenty of traffic signals in order to assist in safe crossings.
