Funny to see all these Panthers fans come out from the darkness like roaches. I didn't see many of them at the Giants game a few years ago, actually it was about 50% Giants fans at the stadium. Now everyone loves the Panthers. This area may have the worst fans in the NFL. Biggest frontrunners in the nation!
Panthers are only 20 years old as a franchise so it's to be expected. Everyone loves a winner.
Honestly, I think it's good that fans don't show up when a team stinks, it motiviates the ownership to make moves to win games and get more fans in the stands
Winning always brings people out. That's just how sports go. It isn't unique to the Panthers. No one in any city shows up in droves to support a loser. You must be new to how sports work. Are you suggesting that people who weren't "fans" a few years ago shouldn't be allowed to follow them now? It doesn't really help your team by belittling those who weren't in the stands a few years. Winning like this is how teams grow and establish a long term fan base. Some of the fans we get now will likely keep following the team even after some down seasons later on down the line.
No, Panther fans are "new to how sports work"! REAL NFL cities pack the house when their teams are LOSING! Not here in Charlotte though. It makes me laugh when anyone criticizes anything about this city...ANYTHING, the people here start to whine. The facts are the facts...Panther "Fans" are fair weather fans. You can dispute it all you want it doesn't change the FACTS. Now tell me to leave, I know "77" goes both ways....."95" goes both ways..."go back to where you came from".. blah, blah, blah! Now it's off the the Mall , YES CHARLOTTE'S NUMBER ONE TOURIST ATTRACTION (LOL) to visit the Fish tank, oh pardon me , Bless my heart, The Aquarium!
Charlotte is a city of transplants, a lot of people are not from here, and I can attest to the fact that if I ever move to another city I will continue to support the Panthers. I definitely believe that a lot of the fans today are bandwagon fans, but I also believe a lot of them are "dormant" fans who may not be that into football, but like the Panthers because they are a local team. I'm that way with the Hornets, I like them, if they started winning more (which they are) and had a chance at the playoffs, then I may don a Hornets jersey and head to the game. I feel like a bandwagon fan is more like someone who may have had a closet full of Green Bay stuff last year and then suddenly realized there's a team with better playoff contention right next door, and they want to be lumped in with that winning fan base. Regardless of your opinions though, I think that every fan, unless a fan since childhood, is a bandwagon fan at some point. I've been badgered for liking my team just because they're local, I've seen others harassed just because they like a winning team, I think the ultimate test is keeping with the team through the bad times, and until these fans that are coming out of the woodwork prove it during the next dry spell, we should at least appreciate they, not another team's fan, is taking up that seat in BofA stadium.
