We love it out here in Union County. We've been in three different states in less than two years and I can't say enough nice things about being here. Our neighborhood is like a little utopia for kids and adults filled with genuinely nice people and my kids get to walk to school on a little trail constructed by our HOA. I feel like I live in Maybury......in a good way. We have little to no crime out here and have diligent neighbors that aim to keep it that way. Yes, my husband drives an extra 10 minutes to get to 485 on the days he needs to be at the office, but to him it's worth it. There are many nice areas in Union: Waxhaw has lots of people moving there, Marvin is lovely, Weddington is beautiful (I don't love their elementary school as much as Wesley Chapel, but lots of people are crazy for it) and even Indian Trail has some beautiful neighborhoods. Of course, I'm partial to Wesley Chapel . You'll find lots of different price points depending on what you are looking for. Good luck.

A lot depends on where you will be working and how long of a commute you will tolerate. How much house can you afford will be a factor as well.

By the way they have one of the best baseball programs in the area. If your boys are into sports check them out. Matthews Athletic & Recreation Association - News Just so you know Matthews reminds me of a small New England town yet you are only twenty minutes from uptown(thats what they call downtown) where there are museums and tons of festivals.

We relocated from CT 3 years ago and love it here.It was the best thing we could have done for our family. We choose Union County to be close to Charlotte but not in it. Check out greatschools.net to find specific schools and areas to check out. You can also check out the area by going to Moving and Storage, Find a Mover, Truck Rental and More - Move.com . Please feel free to pm me with any questions you have. best of luck in your move! =0)

I am shocked at the prices for sign ups for baseball. $135 up to $250 per child. That sounds like high way robbery. I have 4 children that are very active in sports and I have never payed that much and we are from NJ! Are there other options?

From CT to NC
Thanks everyone for you feed back it is very helpful.I'm looking to rent I need a 3br house or town house .I don;t want to pay alot but then again I don't want to be in a bad neighborhood either .My sons do play baseball as well so the registration prices that were mentioned do seem very high .
For the people who relocated from Connecticut . Was it a big adjustment or any major differences that took some getting use to ? So far I'm hearing a lot about concord and union city.
