Default How bad is traffic???

We are looking to move to the Charlotte area this summer. We are looking at the Fairview, Skyecroft, Highgate, Stratford on Providence areas. How bad is traffic going down Providence from Weddington to 485?

Any insights on those neighborhoods?

It can be pretty bad however they are in the process of widening it (from 485 to Rea Rd). Right now they are doing utility work and sometime this year they should start widening the road. You might have to deal with the traffic and construction in the short term, but that should help ease the traffic situation.

You should also factor in where you will be working. If you will be living in Weddington and working Uptown (boy what a drive). But if you work in Ballantyne it would be a fairly short commute. Very nice area though!

Excellent advice so far. Road widening, new construction coupled with the fastest growing area should keep this area log jammed for a while.

Thats right!

There is ALWAYS road construction going on in Charlotte. Seems like on all sides of town too.

Will be working close by. The big commute will be to school. We are looking at Latin, Providence Day and Country Day.

You will not have an issue with that either.

GOOD LUCK!

You wouldn't even have to use 485 if working in Ballentyne. Just go against the flow of traffic to Rea Road and take Rea to Ballentyne Commons Pkwy. Or you could take Rea Rd. to Audrey Kell to Community House to Ballentyne Commons.
