Where does that leave you? I might suggest that you learn some tact before leaving the place where you live. I must comment that if you had first posted message #23 as your original inquisition, you would have been received in a more acceptable fashion.

I know I should probably just stay out of this and/or drop this but I don't think she meant it as a put down, probably just more of a concern of wanting a safe place for her family. After I have read some of the posts on several forums, a "hellish pit of crime and sin" is exactly the image I had in my mind also. Like I said before, moving somewhere you are not familiar with is scary, especially with kids, and the bad stands out more than the good. There is a lot of anxiety involved moving somewhere unfamiliar until your new place starts to feel like home.

You cannot be serious!!!!!!!!!I am originally from Cincinnati, Walnut Hills High class of 64. Comparing Downtown Cincy to Charlotte is like comparing Over ther Rhine to Amberly Village. Yes its that different. You will have no problem here anywhere close to what is in Cincy. I still visit there every other month and the only thing in my mind is getting back home. My family still lives there off Montana & the Blvd. The area you are moving to is similiar to Bond Hill 20 years ago, okay. Hope that eases your mind.

The other Queen City Cincinnati is a nice city or so it seems.
I do remember get lost very late in the morning off of Central Parkway and it was kinda scary (all cities have bad areas).
We were trying to find the Westin Fountain Square where were were staying for New Years. Don't know how we ended up on Central Ave after leaving a club.

Well phrased. You are right. I try to come across with a bit more tact when I speak to others, especially if I am a visitor. It would have been a tad classier if the individual had simply asked for some clarification about the crime rate without the horrible analogy.

I kinda thought the "hellish pit of crime and sin" phrase was funny. I took it that she was mocking the other posts on here that have made CLT look like Gangsta Land. I kind of enjoyed it. And it did elicit a lot of responses about how that was not on target and why.
I hope OP got some info that will help w/ areas to check out so she and her family can enjoy living here.

thanks everyone. yes, i was joking with the exaggeration. i'm finding that posts can be very misunderstood because you don't have that face-to-face interaction. i was just trying to find some areas for a family to live. every place has certain areas which are a tad bit shadier than others. i was just trying to find out where they were.

We are just having fun too. Charlotte is a great place to live and raise a family. YES we have problems but what city doesn't. Put everything in GOD's hands (and I might bet bashed for saying that) and it will be OK!
